ontogenetic maps

Children deal with complexity but adults need to learn it

Action-reflection-action is the necessary process to deal with the adaptive aspects of reality and with businesses considered as adaptive entities.

Paradoxically, this process is developed naturally, using intuition, by children, but adults need to recover their capacity of facing reality without fears if they want to develop an action-reflection-action learning process.

Children would not grow if they did not have this capacity, because most of the problems they face are complex for them.

The object driven learning technology defined the structure that allowed making adaptive learning processes accessible for all the people who need to deal with complex problems and are willing to make the effort to solve them.

Indoctrination requires the use of a theory-practice approach in order to install a theory to rule actions; adaptive learning, on the other hand, requires an action-reflection-action and a theory-practice approach. Indoctrination is security driven while adaptive learning is freedom driven.

The unicist learning objects provided an approach to adaptive learning for adults.

The object driven learning technology defines the four levels of objects to be used when integrating problematic with thematic learning.

The four levels of learning objects are:

  1. Learning context building objects
  2. Possibilities opening objects
  3. Reflection driving objects
  4. Research driving objects

This is what the unicist approach to learning is about. The use of learning objects simplifies the adaptive process and provides, on the one hand, a logical security framework to learn and, on the other hand, it allows expanding the boundaries of people’s talents.

The Unicist Theory solved the approach to complexity

Unicist Theory, its Applications and Scientific EvidencesThe Unicist Theory made adaptive systems manageable and gave an epistemological structure to complexity sciences. As it is known, the management of complexity has been an unsolved challenge for sciences. This challenge has been faced in 1976 by Peter Belohlavek at The Unicist Research Institute, which became a pioneering organization in the development of concrete solutions to manage the complex adaptive systems by developing a logical approach that uses the Unicist Theory.

A double dialectical logical approach to manage complex problems has been discovered. This approach is based on the discovery that complex systems have a triadic structure that emulates the ontogenetic intelligence of nature, represented by a purpose, an active principle and an energy conservation principle and their integration. The Unicist Theory that solved the approach to complexity includes the Ontogenetic Intelligence of Nature, the Unicist Ontology, the Unicist Logic, the Unicist Conceptualization, the Unicist Ontology of Evolution, the Ontogenetic Maps and the Unicist Objects.

There are fields that are generally accepted as being complex such as: life sciences, social sciences, anthropology, political sciences, economic sciences, behavioral sciences, medicine, psychology, education, businesses, ecology and meteorology.

The complexity of a system is intrinsic, which means that it does not depend on the perception of an individual. But in order to apprehend a complex system it is necessary that the person emulates the system in mind, which fully depends on the individual. This required defining what a complex system is.

Science dealt with complexity using multiple palliatives but without achieving consensus of what complex systems are. The main problem to manage complexity is that all the elements of the complex system are integrated by bi-univocal conjunctions without the possibility of the existence of disjunctions, that the boundaries of the objects that integrate the complex system are open and that the system is open in itself. The only measurable facts are the results that such system produces.

The most difficult task was the completion of the scientific evidences to confirm the functionality of the solutions, which demanded thousands of applications until they could be synthesized. The scientific evidences of the Unicist Theory were: the functionality of amino acids, the structure of atoms, the structure of biological entities, the nervous system, the similarity between natural and social objects, the fact that unicist concepts behave as stem cells and that thinking processes are homologous to the functionality of electricity.

The Unicist Theory was used to develop applications in Life Sciences, Future Research, Business, Education, Healthcare and Social and Human behavior. Now complex adaptive systems became manageable and complexity science received its epistemological structure. Palliatives to deal with complexity will continue to be used until people accept that complexity needs to be approached in its nature.

How do Business Viruses Work? – The case of the Virus Type A 1

Viruses are installed in organizations when the personal goals of their members prevail over the goals of the group in the case of entrepreneurs and of the mission and vision of institutions.

RNA virusViruses can be cured or palliated. When they are cured they strengthen the company and the immune system of the company.

When they are palliated but not cured they generate a chronic syndrome in the company.

Chronic syndromes of companies are considered as characteristics by butterfly companies and by those members of institutions that despite the fact that they are working in such institutions, they do not “belong” to them.

We have identified two different types of viruses in companies: Business Virus Type “A” and Business Virus Type “B”.

The virus type “A” is the virus in which the purpose of an activity is substituted by the achievement of personal benefits for the participant.

The virus type “B” is the virus in which the energy conservation function of the activity is substituted by the personal goals of a participant.

An example: The Structure of Object Driven Management

Object Driven Management implies managing the integration of the hardware, software and peopleware of a company.

This implies that the peopleware is the purpose of management. The active function is exerted by the software and the energy conservation function is given by the available hardware. Unicist Business Objects are part of the hardware.

The operational perceivable aspects are the existence of hardware and software. Peopleware is not evident, it implies intentions that cannot be observable and can only be measured by results.

As biological viruses need to be accepted by the body, business viruses need to be accepted by the organization. Therefore, in order to be accepted, business viruses need to show the same observable aspects that are already within the organization. In this case viruses necessarily show the existence of the hardware and the software of the company.

About Business Virus Type “A”

It is the virus that substitutes the purpose of a concept by a personal benefit from it.

Unicist Business Virus Type A

In the case of Object Driven Management, Virus “A” is shown as follows:

This generates the inexistence of the integration between software and hardware.

This produces anarchy or inaction within the organization and the need of an authoritarian leader to manage the conflicts produced.

This lowers productivity, quality and reliability and therefore the value generation is diminished.

The Unicist Standard for Organizational Design

Organizational EffectivenessOrganizations are typical adaptive systems. If they were not, they could not survive.

The Unicist Standard for an organizational process requires having found the real characteristics of the external and internal environment in order to develop such process based on reality and not on a hypothetical reality.

Every design must include the integration of efficacy and efficiency in order to achieve the effectiveness that is required by the environment. If the organization has decided to introduce continuous improvement, it is necessary to include business objects to minimize the change of any improvement.

The steps for an organizational design are the following:

  1. Japanese Park – A pilot test to confirm the starting point.
  2. Definition of Responsibilities  – To allow dealing with the organization as an adaptive system.
  3. Clarification of the Methodology – Defining the logical approach to deal with the processes.
  4. Definition of the final objective – Confirming the “use value” of the organizational process (Pilot tests).
  5. Definition of the Methods – Definition of the methods to be followed. These methods are derived from the methodologies of step 3.
  6. Evaluation & Adjustment of Costs.
  7. Validating the “use value” of the organizational process in action (Pilot tests).

The behavior of ants-colonies and Internet is homologous

An essential analogy, homology, between ants’ activity and Internet has been done at the Stanford University. This is just a confirmation of the benefits of emulating the organization of Nature.

“Here we present a feedback-based algorithm that captures the main features of data from field experiments in which the rate of returning foragers was manipulated.

The algorithm draws on our finding that the distribution of intervals between successive ants returning to the nest is a Poisson process.

We fitted the parameter that estimates the effect of each returning forager on the rate at which outgoing foragers leave the nest.

We found that correlations between observed rates of returning foragers and simulated rates of outgoing foragers, using our model, were similar to those in the data.

Our simple stochastic model shows how the regulation of ant colony foraging can operate without spatial information, describing a process at the level of individual ants that predicts the overall foraging activity of the colony.”

The Unicist Approach for Growth

Businesses, by definition, happen in the future and it has to be considered that the past and the future are not symmetric.

The unicist approach uses both fundamental and technical analytical knowledge. It deals with the future using the unicist ontology based fundamentals.

Its unicist logic allows inferring the future to diagnose, build strategies, design architectures and build business objects.

The technical analytical tools are used to operate the businesses.

It has to be considered that unicist ontology based and object driven technologies have been developed to influence the future of businesses to make growth happen.

Unicist Turnkey Solutions for End-Users in Business

From August 2012 on, only turnkey solutions will be provided to end users in business. This implies that the unicist ontology based and objects driven technologies will be only provided to Corporate and Professional Partners. No technologies will be sold to end-users.

This implies that end-users only need to manage the operation of the business objects / business units / business processes that are installed.

The partners who participate in the development of solutions will have the Unicist Knowledge Object Manager, the Unicist Fact-book and the Centralized Quality Assurance Services available.

As the Unicist Confederation deals with the adaptive aspects of businesses, the core aspect is the definition of the actual possibilities of a business defined in its diagnoses. Therefore we recommend that you access the book on “The Unicist Standard for Ontological Business Diagnostics” at the Unicist Library:

The Unicist Approach is based on Business Objects

Nature, as a paradigmatic complex adaptive system, is organized by objects. The unicist approach is an emulation of the organization of nature using object driven technologies.

The unicist organizational approach is based on emulating nature in organizations. An extremely effective organization can be developed integrating both structural aspects that sustain evolution and incidental aspects that allow dealing with conjunctures. Emulating nature implies integrating the abstract apprehension of reality with the concrete operational design.

Objects are productive units that have a concept, an added value, the necessary quality assurance and a methodology to ensure the minimum strategy. To imagine an object please consider an automatic pilot in an airplane. It can be considered a “paradigmatic” object.

Humans also use mental “pre-built” structures to approach reality. Object driven thinking is a human natural approach to reality. The human mind approaches reality using cognitive objects.

Spin-offs: The Unicist Approach as a New Starting Point

The Unicist Research Institute was a pioneer in complexity science research and became a global decentralized world-class research organization in the field of human adaptive systems.

More than 4,200 unicist ontological researches were developed since 1976 until December 2011 in the field of individual, institutional and social evolution.

They included the development of Unicist Business Object which are now expanded through Corporate & Professional Spin-offs.

The purpose of a technological spin-off is to provide a world-changing solution for a market. It requires having developed an innovative unique technology.

Technological spin-offs require the participation of three agents:

1) The provider of the innovative solution

2) The marketplace builder

3) The investor

“By definition” innovations require the development of a new marketplace which needs the necessary investment to develop it until the new value adding solution is part of the establishment of a market.

When corporations develop the spin-offs the investor and the marketplace builder might be one.

Spin-offs are successful when the innovative technology solves an extreme scarcity by providing solutions that were not possible before. That is why the spin-off business is meaningful when it provides “world-changing” technologies.

Homology between unicist ontology, atoms and biology

Before the unicist approach there was no possibility to approach businesses with a valid universal structural methodology. The unicist approach is based on the research and development of a universal model that allowed dealing with the essential structure of businesses.

This homology is just a demonstration that beginning with physics, continuing with biology and ending with human behavior the essential structures of these fields are necessarily compatible and homologous.

The objective of this synthesis is to provide the framework of the consistency between the unicist ontological approach and hard sciences to demonstrate not only that they are compatible but also their homology.

The Unicist Ontology

The unicist ontology describes the nature of reality with the structure and rules of the ontogenetic intelligence of nature. Thus it has a logical structure that allows guiding the individual in the search of the nature of something and providing the necessary language to describe it.

The ontogenetic maps describe the unicist ontological structures of the functions of some reality. These maps define the essential drivers, catalysts and inhibitors which define the natural actions of these functions.

Introduction

After the unicist ontology has been apprehended, it becomes evident that its structure is homologous to the structure of atoms and biology.

This homology allows dealing with the nature of the complex aspects of all sciences using the same unicist ontological structure defined by the ontogenetic maps to define the concept of what is needed to develop with a fully reliable approach.

Engineering, electronics, information technology, behavioral sciences, anthropology and architecture among other application fields need to use the unicist ontological structure and the corresponding ontogenetic maps in order to be apprehended in their nature. Without them concepts are just ideas and not concrete structures to be followed.

Synthesis

The ontogenetic intelligence of nature defines that every living being has a purpose, an active principle and an energy conservation principle.

Learn more at:
http://www.unicist.com/books-pages/en/uc_ontogenetic_intelligence_en6s.php

The purpose can also be defined as the substantive function, the active principle as the verbal function and the energy conservation principle as the adverbial function.

In physics atoms are defined by having a central nucleus, composed by positively charged protons and neutral neutrons, surrounded by negatively charged electrons.

The positively charged protons are homologous to the substantive function, the neutral neutrons are homologous to the adverbial function and the negatively charged electrons are homologous to the verbal function. An atom, having an equal number of protons and electrons, is electrically neutral.

Living beings are continuously evolving and involving which implies that there is always disequilibrium between their purposes and their active functions which is homologous to the disequilibrium of protons and electrons.

This disequilibrium is what defines the energy and the influence of an ontogenetic structure in the environment.

The active function and the purpose are antithetic and supplementary implying that both are charged with energy.

The energy conservation function and the purpose have a complementary relationship which is evident in atoms where the neutrons allow the integration of the protons.

The mass of an element is basically given by the nucleus of an ontological structure meaning that the mass is given by the purpose and its complementary energy conservation function. But the evolution of a living being is given by the power of the active function in the environment.

The Unicist Ontology of Biological Entities

The unicist ontology of a “biological entity” defines its structure and functionality in an environment.

The genotype defines the genetic structure of the entity that rules its evolution and generates the phenotype of the being.  The objective of the genotype is to ensure the permanence of species, its reproduction and production.

The phenotype defines the morphologic, behavioral and materialistic characteristics of the entity.

It defines the functional characteristics, the functional power of the entity and the functional assurance.

Functionality defines the effectiveness of the phenotype measured as the consequence of the adaptation of the biological entity to the environment.

Functionality is measured in the capacity of adapting and growing on the one hand, and surviving, on the other hand.

The understanding of the ontology of “biological entities” helps to follow the laws of nature when dealing with genetic engineering processes and use it to apprehend the nature of beings with “artificial life” such as institutions.
