Complexity Science: Foundations for Adaptive Automation in Businesses

Adaptive automation implies dealing with complex adaptive systems and developing operational solutions that can be managed by everyone to expand businesses and save energy.

It requires using predictors to deal with the adaptive aspects of the reality that is being managed. The more adaptive a system is, the less energy it consumes to generate a predefined value.

This requires using a complexity science approach to define the rules that regulate adaptiveness and allow designing the architecture of the system. Complexity science can be defined as the scientific approach to complex adaptive systems.

There are three main organizations in the world that are fully focused on complexity science and its application in the field of human complex adaptive systems.

What is the Unicist Logical Approach to Complexity Sciences?

The unicist logical approach manages the adaptive aspects of business as unified fields based on the knowledge of their ontogenetic maps.

Organizations are typical adaptive systems. If they were not, they could not survive.

The Unicist Standard for an organizational process requires having found the real characteristics of the external and internal environment in order to develop such process based on reality and not on a hypothetical reality.

Every design must include the integration of efficacy and efficiency in order to achieve the effectiveness that is required by the environment. If the organization has decided to introduce continuous improvement, it is necessary to include business objects to minimize the change of any improvement.

The steps for an organizational design are the following:

Japanese Park – A pilot test to confirm the starting point.
Definition of Responsibilities – To allow dealing with the organization as an adaptive system.
Clarification of the Methodology – Defining the logical approach to deal with the processes.
Definition of the final objective – Confirming the “use value” of the organizational process (Pilot tests).
Definition of the Methods – Definition of the methods to be followed. These methods are derived from the methodologies of step 3.
Evaluation & Adjustment of Costs.
Validating the “use value” of the organizational process in action (Pilot tests).

When they are solopreneurs they just sell what they need. Individualistic companies cannot grow because they do not do what the market demands, they do what they want to do.

Although there is an object driven strategy that can be designed and developed, negotiating is an art because of the subjective aspects that are involved.

Negotiation implies integrating the interests of individuals or institutions that are divergent. For this purpose, a superior convenience needs to be found.

A unicist negotiation strategy requires achieving an agreement at different levels:

The levels of negotiation are:

1) The negotiation of the roles: It implies defining the acceptance of the roles of the participants in a negotiation.

2) The power negotiation: defining the destruction and construction power of the participants.

3) The business negotiation: defining the value added by each part.

4) The negotiation of the complementation: defining the activities to be developed in order to sustain complementariness.

Institutional negotiation requires different roles that have to be covered.

We consider that the core fundamental of Apple is aesthetics. But aesthetics is not beauty. It goes beyond.

Apple products are aesthetic because they complete the needs of their prospect clients, they are desirable and harmonic. They also include inaccessible aspects that basically deal with innovative technology.

It can be said that the integration of an innovative technology with the fulfillment of latent needs are the core fundamentals that drive Apple’s business.

Steve Jobs is a doer himself

“Doers make things happen. Therefore, more than ever before, it is time for doers in the world.”

Doers are very special individuals. They are basically individuals whose fulfillment is based on doing transcendent things. They need to achieve what they have decided to do. When things cannot be done the easy way, they find the necessary path to make things happen.

“The world is built by doers and enjoyed by followers”. The joy of doers is in the deed itself.

What are the Catalysts of the Unicist Standard?

A process catalyst is an object that drives a reality, accelerates its “process” and avoids entropic behaviors within the limits of the problem established by the inhibitors.

Catalysts are systemic objects accelerating an energy generation process without being part of the system they catalyze.

Entropy inhibitors are operational objects inhibiting the entropy of an energy generating process.

Inhibitors are functional objects inhibiting or limiting the existence of a process.

The acceleration of organizational expansion requires catalysts. The avoidance of contraction requires entropy inhibitors.

Catalysts are a necessary tool for the natural organization of complex processes. They are self-evident in mature cultures and rare in immature societies.
