Introducing Catalysts in Social and Business Environments

The 4th Industrial Revolution introduced the concept of adaptiveness in the industrial, economic and social world. This increases notoriously the market orientation but requires managing environments as adaptive systems, which require the use of catalysts to ensure their functionality and evolution.

Social Catalysts

Social catalysts are process accelerators that allow ensuring the functionality and evolution of adaptive systems of any kind. The concept of social catalysts applies to social, economic and political evolution, to the functionality of any kind of communities or institutions and to businesses.

Catalysts are objects that are naturally integrated in any living being. One of the mostly known catalysts in biology are the enzymes that catalyze multiple processes to ensure the survival and evolution of living beings.

One differentiated characteristic of social catalysts is that they need to achieve the necessary threshold of energy to influence the environment. The use of functional social catalysts in processes neither generates side-effects nor resistance.

The purpose of a social catalyst is to increase the speed of functional processes. This purpose is achieved by increasing significantly the efficiency of processes, diminishing the level of efficacy that is necessary, which saves energy.

The maximal strategy of catalyst is to simplify the functionality of processes by solving their implicit weaknesses using a superior technology that accelerates them. The minimum strategy establishes a superior framework of the process that expands the possibilities to ensure results.

Types of Catalysts

Based on their functionality there are four types of social catalysts: Conjunctural, Specific, Systemic and Generic.

Conjunctural Catalysts

These catalysts accelerate specific conjunctural processes to achieve the critical mass that is necessary to ensure “survival”. They are centrally focused on expanding possibilities by considering the conjuncture. These types of catalysts are normally absorbed by the system they are catalyzing.

Specific Catalysts

The specific catalysts are focused on accelerating specific functions that can be managed as autonomous roles or objects. They are centrally focused on ensuring the results that need to be achieved by using a superior framework to minimize the consumption of energy. These catalysts ensure the achievement of the critical mass of specific functions.

Systemic Catalysts

The systemic catalysts accelerate the functionality of the environment considered as a unified field. They are centrally focused on increasing the efficiency of the system by introducing a superior technology. These catalysts ensure the critical mass of the functionality of adaptive environments considered as a system.

Generic Catalysts

Generic catalysts are those that drive the evolution of the environment where they are applied. They are centrally focused on solving the implicit weaknesses of the processes and simplifying them. These catalysts ensure the critical mass that is necessary to evolve.

Conclusion

Catalysts have been and are used all the time. What the unicist evolutionary approach introduced is the access to the concepts and fundamentals of catalysts that define the root causes of their functionality and allow defining and installing them where they are needed.

Fundamentals-based AI and Data-based AI

The unicist artificial Intelligence is integrated by fundamentals-based AI, data-based AI and a fundamentals knowledge-management system to provide functional knowledge in adaptive environments.

Unicist Artificial Intelligence

The fundamentals-based AI is based on the use of the ontogenetic maps of the concepts and fundamentals that drive the functionality of the process involved and the use of pilot tests to learn from the environment.

Fundamentals-based AI uses predictors to monitor the functionality of processes and as an input to the inference engine that allows defining the actions that are tested to confirm their functionality.

The data-based AI is supported by the fundamentals-based AI to avoid having subjective biases.

When the quantity of data does not suffice, data-based AI is replaced by the use of non-destructive testing that provides analogous information.

Unicist artificial intelligence provides the necessary functional knowledge to manage the functionality and evolution of adaptive environments.

Unicist Decision Making in Adaptive Environments

Decisions are produced because they are needed. When there is no need to decide, the decisions become just a utopia the individual has in mind to deal with reality. That is why decisions exist when they are implemented. If not, they are just an alternative that will be considered when time for decision making comes.

Decision MakingUnicist decision making is a conscious process of an individual or group where the justifications and foundations of possible action alternatives are evaluated to make a decision. It is focused on ensuring that the objectives are possible and not only probable.

The unicist double dialectical approach allows integrating the justifications of the purpose that needs to be achieved, with the justifications of the necessary actions, integrating them with their foundations to ensure the accuracy of the decision.

The foundations of a decision-making processes define the causality of the process including the root causes, the triggering causes and the limit causes to ensure the functionality of the decision.

The dualistic approach to decision making is based on maximal strategic actions based on justifications that are validated by empirical benchmarks without considering the root causes.

Human Time Management

Time management and time drivers define the efficacy of human actions. Out of time does not exist. Reality does not wait for individuals’ preparation. Although it is of universal application, the ontology of time management and its drivers is a basic fundamental analytical tool to define responsibilities in work and learning processes.

Individuals’ actions are ruled by time drivers. These drivers put the described time management into action. These time drivers are:

  • The present
  • The future
  • The past
  • The “here and now”

Structurally it can be said that the proactive drivers and the reactive drivers are the essential drivers of individuals to adapt to universal time.

But the research on time management demonstrated that there are two major segments: individuals with a proactive action and individuals with a reactive action on the environment.

It was also seen that individuals with a reactive action on the environment systematically struggle avoiding involution while individuals with a proactive action fall in that situation when they do not include a minimal strategy to deal with the “here and now”.

Unicist Riddle: Cooperation in Diversity

Thousands of years ago, an alien male individual in an unknown country decided to adopt the unicist way of life. No one perceived a difference in his behavior. He was part of a family, a clan and lived as everyone did. What people did not notice is that his personal life changed completely. Things happened during the night while he should have been asleep. Instead of being asleep he heard extremely loud noises in his head. Ghosts come and leave, or not, during the night.

Albert EinsteinAt the beginning he thought he was ill; but after several nights he began to hear that the noises were in fact voices, the voices of his organs. Unicist ethics was based on democracy, and his organs were trying to introduce democracy within his body.

No problem at all, he thought, democracy always drives towards growth. But time passed and the organs could not agree on who should be their President.

After having many assemblies, there were three final competitors for President:

  • The brain – representing the conservative party
  • The heart – representing the green party
  • The hands – representing the labor party

No one knows how there appeared a fourth candidate participating in the election which was the anus. It is said that the anus cheated, but in fact he was there, competing with the conservatives, the green and the labor parties.

He was an independent. He was proud of that. He felt he was the only one who could coordinate the body in a democratic way.

Elections happened in an assembly with no secret votes. Transparency is the rule of a human body (but only inside). It was supposed to be a debate with all the candidates present and finally the assembly would vote the president.

The brain began explaining why the brain was in control of the nervous system and could foster the growth of the individual. While the brain was exposing; the anus tried to interrupt but his intervention was hindered by the assembly.

Then the heart spoke, explaining how important blood and feelings were in the evolution of the body. The anus tried to participate again but his intervention was hindered by the assembly.

Finally the hands explained how important their function was. Without hands there would be no food and the body would die. The anus tried to intervene again and was not allowed to speak by the crowd.

As the assembly went on for too many hours, it was suspended until the next day, in order to let the anus expose his point of view.

But on the next day there was no assembly. The anus had “shut down” and did not want to participate in any coordinated activity with the other organs of the body.

One week afterward the individual had headaches. Two weeks afterwards he was sick and three weeks afterwards the anus was the President.

But this is not the end of the story. If it would be it would mean that any “gatekeeper” could be the president in order to avoid headaches.

The labor party did not agree with the independent anus and began to strike in order to ensure that the democratic rules should include the positive votes of every organ and not be based on the exclusion capacity of an organ.

They provoked a labor revolution. “Democracy must be sustained by actions” was the motto of the campaign. Inaction is unethical.

The individual was sick for six months. It was the time the body needed to accept that only the value added by an organ can define its political role.

Finally the government was assumed by a troika: the brain, the heart and the hands and the individual continued with his normal life. The anus is still there and very sensitive to the food the hands provide, the feelings of the heart and the chronology of the brain.

What was the purpose of the anus?

Take opportunities using Greek + Chinese philosophy

Kairos

According to the Greek mythology, Kairos was the god for the right or opportune moment (the supreme moment) that allowed humans exceed the limits of their fate.

The Greeks had two words to refer to time: chronos and kairos. The first one refers to chronological or sequential time, the latter signifies a time between, a moment of indeterminate time in which something special happens.

Chronos was a quantitative measure while Kairos had qualitative nature.

As it can be seen on the image of Kairos, the god of opportunities was bald on the back of his head. This meant that opportunities could only be taken when they were coming. When they were going there was no way to grasp them.

That is why an apportunity can only be seized if one’s mind is prepared and the person is able to see it before it passes. Opportunities are such because they change the fate of people.

The Chinese Perspective

Chinese philosophy considers that any crisis is integrated by a threat and an opportunity.

Crisis - Opportunity

The question we want to explore is: why can not people see the opportunities Kairos brings about?

Our hypothesis is that the Chinese are right; the opportunities always come together with a threat, and unfortunately most of the people see the threat of the opportunity and cannot see the chance that is being opened.

When fear prevails, people need to wait until the threat passes before trying to grasp the opportunity. But, paradoxically, then they cannot grasp it because the head is bald and the opportunity has been lost.

By integrating both aspects we can see that only those whose minds are prepared and have the courage to manage the threat that is implicit in any opportunity are able to grasp the hair of Kairos when he is coming.

Unicist reflection to inhibit Zero Sum Strategies

I am pleased to inform that a paying forward action to inhibit the multiplication of Zero Sum Strategies has been launched by the Unicist Goodwill Network.

Minimum Strategies are Zero Sum Strategies. That is why they have to be used after a Maximal Strategy, which provides added value, has been implemented.

The zero sum approach multiplies when Minimum Strategies are used to approach reality without having a Maximal Strategy as a counterpart.  They provoke a Zero Sum Effect that degrades actions and fosters the involution of the environment.

Zero Sum approaches need to be unconscious because individuals seek for profit without adding value. Only psychopaths or sociopaths can do that.

The antidote is simple but not easy.  It requires a unicist reflection process (action-reflection-action) that allows integrating value adding strategies with Zero Sum Strategies making an adaptive process possible.

Corruption inhibitors in cultures and institutions

Corruptors profit from the degradation they produce.

Corruption degrades cultures until they become a group of survivors led by stagnant survivors. This implies that the final stage, which implies that cultures become to live in an endless transition of manipulative leaders, is that individualism, which is the driver of corruption, prevails over the needs of the culture.

The morality of intentions prevails over the morality of actions which drives individuals into the survival ethical intelligence. Survival has no rules nor codes unless people need accomplices to survive.

The Corruption Inhibitor

That is why evolving cultures have a structural corruption inhibitor that hinders that the society enters a massive survival attitude.

Corruption is inhibited when there is a functional ethics which implies that functionality prevails over intentions, the justice is focus on ensuring equal opportunities for all and the society is transparent.

Expansive justice implies that individual action is protected by social repair and not only individual repair and there is a social sanction of all actions that are not within the system of a society.

This is only possible if there is a social transparency of the actions and individuals are identified based on their actions and added value in a society.

Unicist Predictors: Anticipating the future based on facts

Predictors are signs that can be read to anticipate the future. They are ambiguous signs that require to be read considering the conditions of the restricted and wide contexts.

PredictorsPredictors are observable events that make the fundamentals of specific aspects of reality observable.

The fundamentals of a specific reality are able to define a concept if there is a catalyst or a gravitational force that is influencing it.

Everyone uses predictors to interpret actions. For example a smile is a predictor of what can be expected.

Non-verbal communication necessarily includes the observation of “predicting signs” in order to act or react.

The rational use of predictors requires being aware of thee structure of fundamentals that rule a given reality and the external forces of the restricted and wide contexts that influence it.

It is necessary to use predictors to deal with complex adaptive aspects of reality. The unicist algorithms and the unicist ontogenetic maps provide the structure of predictors to be observed and measured to anticipate the future in order to react or exert influence to make things happen.

Mutations are structural changes to survive

We define mutation to all structural change in the purpose of a being, or of any of its “vital subsystems”. We refer to mutation every time that a subsystem is somehow annulled for some non-“traumatic” reason, and this is hence transmitted to future generations.

Modifications of functions will cause different effects according to the role the functions comply with. Mutations occur when the purpose of given concepts change.

If there is a modification in the adverbial function mutations could take place, and even if there is none, the system has lost stability and will generate a change in the verbal function.

Mutation may occur because of evolution or because of involution. In the first case mutations are based on the action of the verbal function to fulfill its purpose. Involution is produced by the inability of the verbal function to produce results.

Evolution implies that the verbal function, representing a more functional intelligence, turns to be the purpose of a concept.

Involution implies a structural change in the functionality of a concept. The verbal function sub-concept replaces the concept.

Socially, there is mutation when there is a change in the habits of a given society. The purposes of a society are implicit in its habits.

Fifth evolution law: The law of mutation

Mutation occurs when a living being or a being with artificial life is marginalized and his survival is threatened. In this context, living beings mutate and adapt again when they have the necessary energy to do so.

This law can be observed in the evolution of diseases. Viruses mutate frequently. They mutate when they need to find new ways to survive hostile environments.

Mutations occur in chaotic contexts. It is hardly impossible to influence mutations to cause evolution.
