Over-adaptation implies stagnation. The stagnation is a consequence and over-adaptive behaviors are the drivers that generate stagnation.

An over-adaptive behavior is part of any expansive (adaptive) process.

Cultural expansion requires being able to influence the environment and then use the over-adaptive behavior in order to save energy.

It requires being able to influence the environment in a way that generates growth.

When this influential attitude does not exist, whatever the reasons, the over-adaptive process has begun.

This necessarily generates stagnation in the environment. Standing still in an environment that is evolving produces involution measured in terms of the vital space that is being occupied in the context.
